Whole Green Love | Meet Laura

My husband Nic and I live just outside of Milwaukee, with our lovely daughter Lyla. Nic and Lyla are the loves of my life and you can probably tell by this blog that much of my time is spent nourishing them with tasty, wholesome foods and anything made from scratch. I love to cook! I enjoy taking cooking classes, transforming any kind of recipe into a healthy meal, and I love making (and of course eating) desserts. I’m also obsessed with sneaking nutrients and super foods into anything I can to load my family up with powerful antioxidants. What? That’s not flax seed in there…

Nic and I stay active and try to work out together but that is seriously hard with a baby in the house. Running is my exercise of choice, but I secretly want to be an aerial dancer and on a rowing team in my spare time…of which I have none. Getting in workouts like we used to is a challenge now, but we still do a good job of staying active. We bought a house a few years ago, so some weekends are spent doing finishing touches on our abode. Most weekends are spent getting in serious family time, just hanging out together.

As for my background, I’ve always been interested in all aspects of wellness – nutrition, fitness, and stress management. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate Health Promotion/Wellness from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. I’m certified as a smoking cessation facilitator through the American Lung Association and as an Intrinsic Health Coach. Since graduating, I have worked in the field of corporate wellness.

I strongly believe that being your own personal advocate and smart health care consumer is important. I think it’s vital for us to shift from a mindset of treating disease to preventing it in the first place, which starts with what we put in our mouths. I believe that a simple, clutter-free life that includes real food and planet conscious decisions = happiness.
