Kombucha-rita: The Probiotic Margarita | Whole Green Love

Nic and I have a thing for margaritas. When people ask what our drink of choice is, it’s always something including tequila. People always say something like “Woa! Tequila?! You guys are pretty hard core!” Ha! Not really.

And margaritas, I can’t get enough of. Problem is, they have a bad wrap for being made with sugary corn syrupy “lime flavored” liquids. Boo. We make our own margaritas from scratch at home and this week I wanted to try something different. I wanted to include one of my favorite drinks in the cocktail: kombucha.


1 oz. tequila

1 oz. triple sec

3 oz. plain kombucha

Juice of 1 lime

1 lime wedge

Coarsely ground sea salt

Using the wedge of lime, wet the rim of a glass, and press the rim into sea salt. Throw a handful of ice in the glass and pour in the tequila, triple sec, kombucha, and lime juice. Stir until combined and garnish with a lime wedge.

Do you usually just use just tequila in your margaritas? Or do you also put in Cointreau or triple sec?
