Grilling Better with a Basket | Whole Green Love

22 Sep

There is nothing like fabulous summer night and a delicious dinner straight from the grill. Any why not utilize it often? It gets you outside, doesn’t heat up the kitchen like the oven does, and I think food just tastes awesome when it comes off that sizzling grill rack. I’ll be real though – my husband does the grilling. And he does an amazing job! My job is to get all of the food prepped in the kitchen and bring it out to my handsome chef. We’ll be talking about some great grilling recipes again, but one of the highlights of a meal off the grill is veggies from our grill basket. I LOVE it! It’s great because it’s non-stick. Can’t beat that.

I’ve only gotten started with this bad boy, but let me tell you – I dig the veggies that come out of this basket. My favorite is to cut up zucchini, squash, and onions, throw them in a big ziplock bag, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, seal it up, and shake, shake, shake. Dump it all into the grill basket and you’re ready to rock. We’ve also grilled asparagus in the basket (pictured here), drizzled with a garlic olive oil, and just a dash of sea salt. Talk about a delightful green addition to the meal. Nic grills the zucchini/squash mixture for about 30 minutes over a low heat, shaking the basket often. The asparagus takes less time, but make sure you judge for yourself. Everyone likes theirs a little different.

A meal from the grill doesn’t always have to be so heavy with meat. We’d love to hear how you use your own grill basket! What combinations of food do you use? We’d love to try some of your suggestions! Enjoy!
