Berry Almond Smoothie
23 Feb
I’m always on the lookout for new smoothie recipes that will keep me interested. I don’t like smoothies to have an overly sweetened fruit taste and I want to feel satisfied from a smoothie, which is why I tend to put good fat sources in it to keep me feeling full longer.
This smoothie recipe turned out great, and because of all the healthy fats in it, you’ll get a nice rich and creamy smoothie. To me, it is just the right amount of sweet.
½ c. whole milk plain yogurt
1 ½ c. whole milk
½ c. frozen kale
1 c. frozen strawberries
½ c. frozen blueberries
2 tbsp. rolled oats (I have a mix of oats with quinoa and amaranth)
1 tbsp. almond butter
Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Add more milk if needed for the right consistency. Feel free to sweeten with honey or maple syrup, if needed.
There is definitely something about drinking a smoothie in the winter that lifts you up and is a tiny reminder that spring and warmer weather is around the corner. It is that time of year when you need any kind of reminder to get you through. Am I right?
What kinds of healthy fats or unusual ingredients do you find yourself putting into your smoothie?
