Christmas may be over, but I know some of you out there are still in need of a nice little DIY holiday gift idea. Or maybe just a gifty idea to have on hand the next time an occasion comes up. Either way, this foot soak is easy and fun to make. Plus, you can holiday dazzle it up in a cute little canning jar.
I try to keep salts and sugars on hand so I can easily whip together an herbal scrub or soaking mixture at any time. The options are endless when it comes to ingredients. Between the textures, scents, and add in bonuses like aloe or vitamin E, you can make a spa gift as unique as the person you are giving it to! This soak recipe is super quick and easy to throw together. Don’t blink while reading this…you may miss it!
-1 ½ C. Sea Salt (you could use Epsom salt too)
-15 Drops pure peppermint essential oil
-1 Swizzle of vitamin E oil (just a little to lightly coat the salt…not enough to turn it into a scrub)
I used just enough salt to fit in my canning jar, so you can adjust your measurements as needed to fit your container. Feel free to add more essential oil if you are looking for a stronger or lighter peppermint scent. Add a couple of spoonfuls to a tub of toasty water and let your feet enjoy a little rejuvenating treat! The peppermint scent can drift up to your nose to bring back nostalgia of holidays past, or awaken your inner-self on a cold winter day.
Top off your container with a scrap piece of fabric or recycled holiday tissue. Add a little twine and sprig of pine and you’ll have a cute little holiday gift made with love. Nothing beats a homemade gift and in this case it keeps giving every time it’s tossed into a foot soak tub. If you’re feeling adventurous you could add a little salt to a bath, so your whole body can enjoy that goodness.
Keep this simple salt scrub idea in mind next time you are thinking about a fun DIY project for a friend or if you are looking to give yourself a little pamper session. Everyone deserves a little “self-time” and this salt soak can do just that!
